Danny Torres to FCD
January 22nd, 2009 . 2:30 pm . By: Buzz CarrickAfter asking about eight questions today of various FCD staffers about Danny Torres and when he would be joing FCD only to be given given eight “maybe” and “we’re close” answers, the rapily-becoming-more-of-a-news-orginization-than-a-soccer-club FC Dallas broke the story on their blog that Torres is joing the team. Torres is a Costa Rican International, you can watch him play on TV tonight tomorrow actually, who most recently played for Bryne FK in Norway. He also has had playing stints in MLS with Real Salt Lake, under John Ellinger, and with Columbus Crew. At the end of last season he had a short trial with FC Dallas that culminated in his appearence in the end of season FCD wrap up scrimmage. As 3rd Degree predicted last week, Torres is clearly a “cover your bets” signing and along with Steve Purdy will fill the vacated Duilion Davino spot in the FCD back line. Edit: Hitch gave me bad info, Costa Rica takes on Panama in UNCAF qualifying tomorrow on Galavision at 7:30 PM and not tonight. 10 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Does/did RSL still have his MLS rights? Will FCD have to make a trade or is a free agent?

Is Costa rica playing tonight?

[...] we John Elligner brings just another former denizen of the Wasatch Range down to Frisco, it occurred to some of us here at Los Toros central that our MLS side might just be angling for [...]
Torres was not a full time starter for a mid-table Adecco (second level) team in Norway. He is a Ellinger favorite but it’s this type of player that got hoim fired in RSL. Torres made 100k when he left RSL but I hope we’re not paying that much.
Actually, the head coach of Daniel Torres’ Norwegian team said he was their best defender, that he wanted to build the defense around Daniel this year, and he did not want to let Daniel go to Dallas. It was the insistence of Daniel to join FC Dallas that led to the transfer. So this is a player who really wants to be here…unlike some others…
