Cooper for FCD in 09
January 2nd, 2009 . 11:13 pm . By: Buzz CarrickSo Hyndman says Cooper will be playing in a Dallas uniform for 2009. Hyndman has been saying for a while now that a stick-around date was coming on Cooper and it looks like that point has been reached. I’ve been feeling for a while now that Cooper was likely to be around for this year. FCD has enough problems on the field without trying to replace Cooper and with the dollar coming up some in value combined with the current world wide recession it seemed less likely a move was on the cards. Copper Jr has never really struck as wanting out of Dallas and certainly the renewed US call ups, a big reason his people wanted him to go to Europe in the first place, will make him happier here. One more positive in Phil Stephens piece is the language from Cooper Sr. about being happy either way and the progress between Cooper’s agent, Lyle Yorks, and FCD. Stephens has known Cooper Sr for a long time and can usually get some good info out of him, so you can believe what he says. 3 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Cool, I just hope FCD does right by him with a new contract. They can’t afford to make him a DP (and MLS probably wouldn’t allow it either), but he should be making Davino money, and they should be aggressive in trying to find a little marketing revenue for him, too.
Agree with Steve above. 400k is pretty perfect and leaves us with an option to bring in someone.
