My Nery Fantasy

November 13th, 2008 . By: Buzz Carrick

My long running fantasy of Nery Castillo playing for FC Dallas is looking more and more plausible.  I’m not saying there has even been the remotest contact between FCD and Castillo, but Ives has a run down on the latest debacle in the career of the mercurial Mexican striker.  Nery is now basically in limbo with nowhere to play.

I’m still convinced the kid is a tremendous talent who could easily handle both the pace and physicality of MLS.  Schellas wants a #10, a Gomez/Schelotto type. In my opinion this would be the guy as he has the cretivity and flare to be a difference maker.

Pricey? Sure, a DP I imagine. But one well worth the risk.

Come on Schellas, let’s make this happen.

    Ha…Buzz fantasizes about Mexican men.

Would love to see Nery in hoops, but I just can’t see it happening.

if you had to chose, who would our DP be: ZeRoberto or Nery Castillo? that is if we had a chance to get either one of them.

castillo. younger, cheaper, might draw a couple Mexican fans.

I’d take castillo in a heartbeat. Buy low, reap the benefits on the field for a season or two, then sell high.

The problem with Castillo, besides being a huge primadonna, is that he has a huge contract with Shaktar. That is why he moved there in the first place. Shaktar refused to loan him out to Chivas de Mexico this week. Castillo himself paid out some big bucks to make his loan deal to Man City happen. I don’t understand how he can’t get any minutes there actually. He was spectacular at the Copa America, look up the goal he scored against Brazil.

Man City has better players with more pedigree in front of him. Robinho has done it in the WC and Spain. Benjani has done it Africa and the Prem. Jo has crazy potential & captained the Olympics squad. SWP is proven in the Prem and for England. even Vassell has done it in the Prem for multiple teams.

Make it happen Buzz . . . or at least tell Schellas that the organization would actually back this DP signing

Benjani, one of my favorite players, I just wish he still played for Pompey
