Ives on Cooper
November 21st, 2008 . 9:26 pm . By: Buzz CarrickNot so fast my friend… You may have read on SBI, that Ives thinks it’s inevitable that the Hunts will cash in on Cooper this winter rather than lose him at the end of next season when his contract runs out. The only problem with this argument is that Cooper has two option seasons left on his current contract, not one. It goes without saying HSG/FCD will be picking those options up unless they can get Cooper on a new deal. Could they still be willing to sell? Of course, there could. Ives is right about the talks being stalled with Cooper’s people wanting DP and MLS/HSG/FCD saying no way. Cooper Jr likes playing in Dallas, he has a contract, and he certainly deserves more money. With the rising dollar will the offers be there? Maybe. He’s not going to spend the next decade in Dallas anyway. So will there be a middle ground? Not as likely. But I personally anticipate Cooper being around Dallas next year. 4 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

typical Ives…jumping the gun on something. I respect the hell out of him but damn for some reason I cannot stand him. You on the other hand Buzz I can stand and enjoy reading, thanks for the update!
as for KC, he’s good as gone…let’s just hope the club can get a good transfer fee for him! Maybe use that money on someone who isn’t past their prime as a replacement…in other words don’t let Hitch pick the player!!
If KCJ ever wants out he can get out by the Webster Rule or simply being a cancer here. Now only the first option would fit his personality.
the Webster Rule? Don’t tell me KCJ has to now rush off and buy a new dictionary on his current salary????
I love Coop, so for his sake and that of the Nats, he should take the first good opportunity to go to Europe.
