We knew Saragosa was playing hurt, but not to this extent. FCD announced today that Marcel Saragosa has undergone an operation on his meniscus for the second straight season. Saragosa apparently has opted for the longer term recovery operation that is better for his long term health. If all goes as schedule he will be back for next season. This is the same right knee that the Brazilian injured last year.
The Expansion Draft is something we’re going to have to get used to over the next few years as more teams come into the league. 2008 will be like 2007 in that one team is coming into the league. It’s fairly safe to guess then at what the rules will be. It almost certainly will take place on the Friday following MLS Cup, thus giving teams one week to make trades before the roster freeze that will come 24 hours before the Expansion Draft. With FCD eliminated from the playoff spots, I figured I might as well run this.
I know it’s been a while since I done one of these and I hope you will forgive me for that. This is crunch time for me with the real job and a series of travel days and long production schedules has prevented me from seeing games in a tiny enough fashion to make some comments worth while.

One minor complaint about Rio Tinto stadium. If you are going to go to the trouble and expense of building a big beautiful soccer stadium, with a big beautiful grass surface, why in the name of Stanley Mathews would you mark the field surface to the EXACT SAME DIMENSIONS as the crappy college football field you just left? There is a good 10 to 15 yards of width not being used on that field.
So with the red card to Marcelo Saragosa, the team that should have been a playoff lock this year instead crashes out of the dance. Hard to blame Hyndman, he just got here. Instead the chaos of this season tells us we need to be looking at the upper management side of things.
