Hyndman Contract Info

October 26th, 2008 . By: Buzz Carrick

Glenn Davis has a source that says Schellas Hyndman has a seven year contract for $400,000 a year.  That’s close to $3 Million if his info is correct.

Now I can’t confirm the info nor report any further data.  But what I can tell you is that Davis’ info matches the second hand info I have, the scuttlebutt, water cooler talk, word on the street, perhaps even call it rumor - if informed rumor.  What I am saying is that I do have info from some insider type people that are usually right, and often tip me off to things I later can confirm and report.

What Davis says matches the word that trickled to me, and that was a five years guaranteed, plus two option years, at $400,000, contract for Schellas Hyndman.  I now have no reason to doubt my info.

All of which is why certain informed people, and I include myself in this, have said you better get used to Schellas Hyndman, cause he’s not going anywhere.  He has a long term family relationship with the Hunts and a long term guaranteed deal.  Remember also that the Hunts don’t really fire people, they just let contracts expire.  Which makes the odds very good that Schellas will see out the five years of his guarantee, and will likely be here longer than that.

This is nightmare news because the Hunt’s are so cheap SH will actually be here at least 5 years.

All I can say is vote with you pocket books ladies and gentleman. Cause the Hunts first and foremost are business people. Make them show our team the kind of attention they showed Columbus this year.

lots of frustrated fans after finding out how long he’ll be here.

I’m certainly frustrated by this, but I won’t get too anxious until we’re a month or 2 into next season. Hopefully they’ll bring in lots of players that better suit SH’s plans, and get good value for the quality players that aren’t quite the right fit.
There were stretches where this team looked very good, even with a bad fit between personnel and formation.

Guarda had better grow up fast during the offseason, or SH should get realistic about his limitations. That’s the part that makes me most nervous.

Apparently FC Dallas had to give SH time to learn MLS. Glad we can all learn and grow together.

    Insane.

Hmmm…. Colin Clarke and Steve Morrow get the axe so quickly yet an unproven, college coach gets a multi-year contract. Reminds me of the Jeffries era…

If it were treated like a business… I doubt they would make a risky investment like that… but it is family.

Though if I was leaving a career at SMU I would not leave without that security so I do see why it is there but that’s Bruce Arena type terms…

Well, we are stuck with him and un-ellingerble for a while.

Come on You Hoops! Coaching staff… Prove us wrong!

This is terrible news. I am voting with my checkbook. Did not renew my season tickets. Guess I won’t be renewing for 5 years.
