Moor Four Year Deal

September 10th, 2008 . 9:45 am . By: Buzz Carrick

Drew Moor (Rags Gardner, RII)

First reported by Soccer America and now confirmed by 3rd Degree, Drew Moor has signed a new four year contract.

Wrapping up the current second choice captain and likely soon to be full time captain is terrific news.  Moor is one of FCD’s most consistent and reliable players.  Keeping that kind of young American talent if important.  Hopefully Cooper is next.

Unfortunately the article also says Cooper deal has stalled and FCD is prepping for a big move with all the allocation money they have collected.

Could this be the big move I mentioned in my rumbles post?

Four Moor Years! Four Moor Years! (Sorry, it’s an election year. I’m still trying to get over all of the Obama / Yo mama jokes people are making at work.)

    Is this a 2 + 2 deal or a full 4? Any ideas on number$?

Typically it’s one year guaranteed and 3 option years at 5% increases. Figure he making $150K or so.

Sorry to see Moor not shoot a little higher but everyone is not cut out for the big time that is Europe. He’s safe and confortable but this won’t stretch his as a player at all.

I don’t like that you speculate in your own stories Buzz

I’m glad they’re finally deciding to do the right thing with some of these guys, too bad we couldn’t work it out with Goodson after last year.

Goodson was going to go to Europe no matter what. He told the FO that so they let him go to San Jose. I will rag on the FO just as much as the next guy but the Goodson decision was a good decision. If we didn’t send him to SJ than it could have been Dom.

Goodson kept all options open and told MLS what it would take to sign and they tried to get him on the cheap. Both FCD & SJ agreed to his numbers but MLS played games and they lost.

It’s all worked out great for Goodson as he is likely to sign with a bigger club for bigger money sometime in the next year.
