FC Dallas Signs Jamie Watson

The 22 year old Watson spent time this off season with FCD, including traveling to T&T with the team, and likely would have signed with FCD this spring if RSL had waived Watson as they had announced. Once Watson showed up in Dallas camp, RSL held onto Watson in an attempt to get something from FCD. Here’s the FCD press release. FC DALLAS SIGNS MIDFIELDER JAMIE WATSONFC Dallas today signed midfielder and Dallas-area native Jamie Watson. Per team and league policy, terms were not disclosed. The 22-year-old Watson spent the past three seasons with Real Salt Lake, where he scored two goals and added one assist in 38 regular season games. He was selected by RSL with the 13th overall selection in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. A graduate of Coppell High School, Watson has been a guest player for FC Dallas in three Reserve Division games this season. In 2007, he also accompanied the team as a guest player on a post-season trip to Trinidad and Tobago for exhibition games against all-star teams from the T&T Pro League. Dallas native Jamie Watson has signed a Developmental deal with FC Dallas. Previously Watson played for Real Salt Lake for three seasons, some of the time under current FCD assistant coach John Ellinger. Most recently Watson has been playing
Though I’m bummed he’s leaving Austin, I’m glad we’ll still get to see him in action. Jamie became one of the heros of our inaugural season Aztex U23s. Many figured he would was a shoo-in for a spot on the roster of next year’s USL-1 Aztex squad. Best of luck to Jamie!
What position does Jamie tend to play at midfield?
Usually wide right. But he has also played striker and attacking mid, as well as a high flank attacker in a 4-3-3.
