Ricardinho Gone

It’s been coming for some time, but today it officially happened. Ricardo de Alves Pereira, a.k.a. Ricardinho, has gone home to Atletico Paranaense. A player with plenty of technical gifts, he never fit in here under new coach Schellas Hyndman and it was only a matter of time before he was gone. Matters started on the wrong foot with the new coach when Ricardinho mouthed off in the press about playing time shortly after Hyndman was hired.  Ricky, as his teammates called him, was clearly a guy not “on the bus.”

Ricardinho failed to score a goal for FCD amassing 2 assists in his short 15 game, 4 start career.  He did make a number of appearance for the reserve side over the last two seasons.

Here’s the PR…

FC DALLAS RELEASES RICARDINHO

FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, August 20, 2008) – FC Dallas today announced that Brazilian-forward Ricardinho has been released and will return to his original team, Clube Atletico Paranaense.

Dallas acquired Ricardinho on loan from Atletico Paranaense in July 2007, making him the first-ever player exchanged between the two partner-clubs. The 20-year-old appeared in 15 regular season games with FCD, making four starts and registering two assists.

FC Dallas and Atletico Paranaense formed a partnership in 2006 which provides the opportunity to loan players, exchange business practices, use facilities, and host friendly matches against one another.

It’s a shame, this kid looked like he had a huge upside but never really developed into anything special. Good luck back in Brazil Rico!

I think Rico was an awesome player who really could have helped this team if he was given the chance to play. Obvisouly the bus coach didnt think so. FC Dallas made a huge error on this one.

By the way, I want Steve Morrow back as coach.

Ricardinho always looked lost & out of position. Good skills don’t always translate into good football game sense. His lack of scoring – at all – is telling.

    He won’t be missed.

This kid was even worse than Denilson when it came to actually producing a goal.

We could have waited years for him to start producing, and nothing would have materialized.

    Next!

i didnt think this would happen before the end of the season simply because of the partnership agreement with CAP. I dont think this will bode well for that relationship. We’ve taken several players but only 1 has worked so far (Rocha playing out of position). They havent taken any of our players.

Whatever happened to our Tigres relationship???

We’ve taken 2 platers from CAP. Rocha and Ricky.

I’m not too concerned over this loss. He was a good player, but selfish on the ball, and not really high enough in the depth chart to make a difference any time soon.

$herman Maje$ty: You are INSANE if you truly want Steve Morrow back. I’ll take SH over SM any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Schellas has done nothing to impress me so far apart from treat a team of pro’s like their kids on an u12 team. Cutting and trading like he’s playing Football Manager

***treating like kids DIDN’T impress me, that kind of reads wrong, and in fact is one of my biggets complaints…outside of playign eveyrone out of position.

To that idiot that says he could not play soccer, bet you know lot about the game huh? he was never given an opportunity this guy had more experience in his young career than half the team, made his pro debut a 15 and before coming here had already been part of the Brazil u-17 team and played in the world cup for that age group, also, had copa libertadores experience under his belt, this guy Schellas doesnt know crap about managing a Pro team, he is bringing 22 and 23 year old college boys with no pro experience to play in MLS and sitting guys like Rick out, its a shame. Also, not many Paranaense players want to come to play here, the level of soccer is not even comparable and the risk of injury is higher due to the lack of skills over here.
Ricardinho will do fine, eventually he will become a strong player and we will remember when he was here and wonder why he did not play.

OK F.C.Dallas, are you happy now than Ricardinho went back to Brazil? After pushing him around and to the side never giving him an opportunity to show what he could do. It a little bit of information he was only19 years old when you brought him from Atletico Paranaense, you hindered his career for over a year. I AM GLAD THAT HE IS BACK IN BRAZIL AWAY FROM YOU GUYS…. Since Pizza Hut’s goal is to have shows in the stadium and does not care for a real soccer, what to expect?
Some previous comments said that he would take years and years to grow, to all of you uninformed commentators please do some research about “Real Soccer”, go to FIFA.com, go and read about Brazil’s 5 times World Champions and get some knowledge. And by the way, Pele was only 17 when he first played the World Cup OK
It is a shame to have an empty and beautiful stadium in Frisco where you guys do not do a thing as far as marketing to bring more fans. Have you ever attended to a game where there is passion for your team and you honor the colors? Probably not … FC DALLAS YOU STINK ….. But wait and see Ricardinho on the next World Cup wearing the Yellow Jersey on the mean time your bull will be deflating on the left corner ….
