HSG and FCD have enough financial issues – no need to compound them by subsidizing a new team in any way, shape or form. (reduced fees for PHP, co-marketing campaigns, you name it…)

From a marketing perspective, I really think that FCD needs to target more hardcore or die-hard soccer fans and get away from the Soccer-Mom demographic. For most pro-sports in the US, you target hard-core fans and get them into the stadium, and THEN your popularity ’spills over’ to the suburbs, soccer moms, etc. If FCD promotes Women’s soccer at PHP, I see that will further ’suburbanize’ the atmosphere, as most hard-core soccer loyalists don’t watch women’s soccer and could care less. That sends the wrong message and detracts from the MLS stadium atmosphere (though there isn’t a real ‘hardcore’ atmosphere at PHP yet)

I’m glad they won’t be playing at Pizza Hut Park. Not because I don’t want them there, but because I think it’s a good thing to have a new soccer-specific stadium in the Dallas area. Soccer needs to invade this metroplex, and this just might be a step in that direction. I’m not a big fan of women’s soccer, but I’m glad it’s happening.

As someone who couldn’t care less about women’s soccer, I’d be pissed if FCD raised their prices because they were bundling the games. And I doubt I’m the only one that feels that way.

Sorry, Ladies, but if you can’t financially stand on your own, that ain’t FCD’s problem….they already have plenty of their own to deal with. They don’t need YOUR problems too.

you can actually set up double-headers if they play in similar seasons. that way, more people could stay for the other’s game which would increase fan support. but the problem w/ that could be revenue. you can raise the tix price a little to have game admission for both games.

Actually, by the DMN article, the Sting puled out of the PHP deal because FCD is asking too much. I kind of wish HSG/PHP would “bite teh bullet” for a couple of years and “help out” the Sting until the get their footing and/or get their own stadium built. It cold only be good for the game in the area.

I’d rather have the Sting play there than Frisco ISD football.. I agree with SteveToro, this stinks! It would be great if we could get two soccer teams playing regularly at PHP rather than trying to fill it up with concerts and other non soccer related crap.

That stinks that HSG won’t let the Sting play at PHP. I know that more events mean more maintenance costs, more wear-and-tear, field upkeep and all — but they could control concessions and require the Sting to pay for stadium staff, etc PLUS rent. I mean, if you’re really interested in creating a soccer atmosphere for Dallas (and selling more FCD tix), why not invest in the women’s league?
