August 1st, 2008 . 5:18 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Jamie Watson (Andrew Kandel, 3rd Degree)Dallas native Jamie Watson has signed a Developmental deal with FC Dallas. Previously Watson played for Real Salt Lake for three seasons, some of the time under current FCD assistant coach John Ellinger. Most recently Watson has been playing in the PDL division of the USL for the Austin Aztex scoring 8 goals in 13 games.

The 22 year old Watson spent time this off season with FCD, including traveling to T&T with the team, and likely would have signed with FCD this spring if RSL had waived Watson as they had announced. Once Watson showed up in Dallas camp, RSL held onto Watson in an attempt to get something from FCD.

Here’s the FCD press release.

Though I’m bummed he’s leaving Austin, I’m glad we’ll still get to see him in action. Jamie became one of the heros of our inaugural season Aztex U23s. Many figured he would was a shoo-in for a spot on the roster of next year’s USL-1 Aztex squad. Best of luck to Jamie!

What position does Jamie tend to play at midfield?

Usually wide right. But he has also played striker and attacking mid, as well as a high flank attacker in a 4-3-3.

    Man,

Austin will be pissed about this.
