Three for Cooper

July 25th, 2008 . By: Buzz Carrick

Now this ought to raise the price, but it now appears three teams are chasing Kenny Cooper.  If a three way bidding way erupts the price is gonna go way up into the area at which HSG will be willing to sell.

We’ve know about Rosenberg for some time.  Now Steve Davis says Cardiff CIiy has come in with a bid and Goff had said Copenhagen was after Cooper as well, although he’s edited it to say Rosenborg.  But rumors of Copenhagen interest in Cooper has been floating around PHP for a month or more, so I imagine Goff heard the same thing I did and thus resulted in his brain fart.

(Goff also say Alvarez is unhappy, which is not shocking given the new coach is not playing him much).

Although this article appears to say Rosenborg is moving on from Cooper to focus on Buddle after having their latest Cooper offer rejected.

Given what MLS has rejected for Taylor Twellman (5 years older than Kenny), I’d expect MLS/HSG would want at least $3-4 million. That is a dangerous amount of money for those teams.

Now a EPL team in the mix would worry me more. Those guys throw money around like Pacman Jones.

Kenny is just worth so much more to HSG than Toja could ever be. Every 10 year old kid in the stadium knows who Kenny Cooper is.

KirkBhoy: Cardiff City isn’t an EPL team. They play in the Championship.

Wow, it’s not my week. I see what you mean now Kirk Bhoy… My bad…

Having said that, Cardiff has 5 million pounds sitting around after selling Aaron Ramsey to Arsenal so they might be willing to send two of it, roughly 4 million dollars, FCD’s way.

From a European article I read, MLS has already accepted the $4 million bid and Cardiff City is in negotiations with Cooper involving a contract.
