Once in a while I’ll grab a player for a little one on one session with the mike. There isn’t really a rhyme or reason to why I’ll do one of these Five Questions bits, but with Kenny so much in the news the last week I figured it might be a good time to see what he’s thinking.
You leave contract stuff to your dad and agent, but you must have been aware of what was going on, do you feel content now or have a weight lifted off now that you know what’s happening for this season?
Certainly, like you say, I have been aware of what’s been going on. But the good thing about my team of people off the field, my father and Lyle Yorks, is that they handle stuff off the field and it allows me to focus on playing. That hasn’t changed throughout the year. I feel like I’ve been able to focus on things that I need to and kinda leave other things for them to work on.
I know you would like to play for US more, has Bob Bradley been in touch to say what you need to do to get into the team?
No. Not really. You know, really my only kinda of contact was Drew and I getting called in for the Argentina game, but we didn’t dress out. I haven’t had much communication with them outside of that.
How was the All-Star game experience?
It was an amazing experience. I’m still taken aback by being asked to go out there. It was so much fun to be on the same field in training and the game with Beckham and Donovan, players that I have so much respect for. You know, it was good for me to be around them and see how they go about their things, their professionalism. So it was a great experience for me.
The story goes you grabbed the game ball after LA for Schellas, can you talk about why that was a gesture you wanted to make?
Well, it was his first league win and it was a big one. It was such a great occasion, a sold out stadium against LA, full of soccer stars. It was a great occasion for all of us and for Schellas especially with it being his first league win. I felt it was important for us as a team to present him with the game ball.
Was that the fastest back to back goals you’ve ever scored? Do you recall ever scoring that fast before?
I don’t know. No.
Dom made it happen. We all know how fast and quick he is. My second goal I managed to get a poke on the ball but Dom’s so fast and he showed such great vision to play back to me. I’ve seen so much improvement in Dom’s game in the last three years and he’s really making huge contributions to the team this year. Hopefully he’ll continue to do that.

You have said it before Buzz..Class act that KCJ.
Okay so nothing new here.
Hard Hitting journalism there Buzz!
You know we luv ya !
I’ve noticed that every interview he does, he never takes full credit for anything. Great guy, and a good role model. Glad he’s staying.
Clearly a classy guy. On the last question it takes him four words to credit Oduro and talk about his improvement, despite the question being about KC’s goal scoring performance.
With FCD or elsewhere, I wish KCJ nothing but the best.
ILMAO when I saw L.A. trying to mark Dom with Vanney. Cooper probably LHAO too. Quality guy this Cooper, nothing new there.
Cooper was gone - he didn’t go after the game ball for Schellas. That’s spin.
hagbard: They presented the ball to Schellas after the game, so I don’t see how he could have possibly been grabbing it for himself. If you’ve ever met Kenny, you’d know that he’s always thinking of someone else. You can even tell that in his interviews. He’s all class…the ball was for his coach. Not that I would have blamed him if he had grabbed it for himself.
Bob Bradley is a tool!
It’ll be nice when we get a coach who values strikers for….you know…scoring goals.
We’ve had one goal scored against decent competition by a striker since the WC.
Blood boiling now. Need to go.
Keep it up Kenny!
“Cooper was gone - he didn’t go after the game ball for Schellas”
I watched him do it - on TV - live. Cooper talked to the official and got the game ball then handed it to FCD staff.
IDIOT, Cooper got the ball for Schellas. He asked for the ball from the referees and gave it to Marcos the eqiupment manager so he could get it signed by the players. He then presented it on behalf of the players to Schellas. IDIOT !
