Cooper Named MLS All-Star First XI
July 10th, 2008 . By: Buzz CarrickGoff, as frequently happens, is ahead of MLS and has the list of the MLS starters for the All-Star game. FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper Jr has been named to the First Xi at the forward position along side LA’s Landon Donovan. Cooper is currently 4th in goals scored in MLS with eight and has rebounded well from last year’s broken leg. Cooper’s eight goals is double any other FCD player. The official announcement is out, and Cooper received a combined vote of 28.1 behind Donovan’s 67.9 and ahead of Luciano Emilio’s 18.3 and Brian Ching’s 12.9. No other FC Dallas player registered a high enough vote total to be listed by MLS. Here’s a quick video montage by Eric Watson of some of Cooper’s goal exploits.
And another by FC Dallas

Nice video
hell yea coop!!!! show your class and get on your way!!!
It’s the “First XI” not the starting XI. He’s not guaranteed to start.
Nice video.
My two personal favs are the recent one against Houston. The ball control and finishing were just sublime. Onstad made a good effort to save, but the shot was just too good.
I just love that last one against RSL. Talk about makin a keeper look bad.
Thrilled for Kenny. The kid never gives less than 100% every time he hits the field.
Scary, good point, Edited.
Interesting - look at the numbers and it was a legit vote. As in, pretty much everyone voted Cooper ahead of Ching and Emilio.
As for no other FCD player making the top 20 - who would? No one that I can think of.
BTW, what do you mean, First XI doesn’t mean will start? I thought unless the guy pulls out because of injury, he is going to start? No?
