Lambo, Wallace, and Shea Back in U20 Squad
July 1st, 2008 . 1:36 pm . By: Buzz CarrickThomas Rongen has named a 16 man U-20 squad to face Mexico on July 12 in Laredo, Texas. Brek Shea, Josh Lambo, and Anthony Wallace have all been called for the game. Also of note is 17 year old striker Felix Garcia of the PDL side Laredo Heat. He’s been called into some youth national camps before but has never garnered much attention from MLS as near as I can tell. isn’t jorge flores last years’ Sueno winner?
All these callups and higher level training have got to be helping our guys develop faster…and good for them for the callups.
sotg-
“yes” he is
Buzz, why hasn’t Felix garner MLS attention? FCD has no interest in this guy? What is the protocol in acquiring players in the USL PDL?
This group seems dramatically weaker than our side in last year’s U-20 WC. Anyone know anything more about them as a group?
China, Well for one thing he’s a high schooler. But I’ve not heard anything about MLS scouting him or contacting him with a though to come to MLS early. Out side of his age I don’t know why there hasn’t been more interest.
Nic, mostly those are college kids and non-impact MLS players. It’s the start really of the next cycles so I’m sure Rongen is looking at all kind of options.
Does Lambo wear head protection a la post-concussion Peter Cech?
No.
