Hyndman-Ellinger isn’t a dream team in ’08 (or ’09)
One wonders if FC Dallas management is attempting to steadily crash its club into the ground. That is perhaps the only reason to go out and supplement the hiring of a college coach with the acquisition of that noted MLS acquisition guru John Ellinger as his top assistant.
Schellas Hyndman’s learning curve is steep enough already. The team’s trying to shift to playing four defenders at the back (a wise decision, but curious given the glaring lack of pace amongst Hoops defenders). Hyndman hasn’t coached at this level and will need time to acclimatize himself.
Bringing Ellinger away from his Technical Director role at the U.S. Soccer Youth Association, a place where Ellinger can utilize his vast expertise of the youth game without leading any MLS teams hopelessly astray, to tutor Hyndman in how things should be done in MLS represents another misstep in a rather lengthy list of them out in Frisco.
