US Open Cup starts tomorrow

June 30th, 2008 . 9:18 am . By: Chamo Jones

Historically speaking Dallas has done pretty well in this tournament. Dallas won it’s only legitimate trophy back in 1997 when they beat DC United in the final via the dreaded penalty kick shootout. They also have made it to the final in two of the past three editions. Losing to LA in 2005, and to New England last year. In addition to that, they made the semifinals in 1998 and 2002. The lowlights include first round exits to lower division teams in 2001 (Seattle Sounders Select, PDL) and 2003 (Wilmington Hammerheads, USL2).
