I didn’t realize how much he was holding together on the Dallas defense until he left. He is kind to us in the video which is nice. He now anchors the better defense in his league and is one of the top rated players in Norway.
Oh yeah, we miss him big time. I hope some day we know the real story on him leaving.
We have to remember that Goodson went to San Jose before he left the league. Since he didn’t stay with them, I assume the problem was with MLS (low salary, probably), not with FCD specifically. We’ve heard all these rumblings about players and management not getting along, but in this case, Goodson had a chance with a different team and left anyway.
The only reason he went to San Jose was because his agent told FCD several days before the draft that there was no way he would stay in MLS without a large increase in pay. Of course the FO failed to mention this to San Jose, which is why they picked him.
I have been a fan of Snacks ever since I saw my first game. I think he needs to get the same exposure with the Nats as EJ – I mean, he can’t be any worse, right?
Ozzie,
Why don’t you believe that the real story is that teams in Europe were able to pay him more than any MLS team could have or should have paid him at this point of his career? It seems like the most logical reason. Why does everyone like to throw controversy behind things?

Sorry Moose, but that is wrong. San Jose knew the situation with Goodson as did every team in MLS. They took a gamble and lost.
I have a hard time believing that the entire conversation was made public. I agree that everyone knew he wasn’t re-signing. You might be right, though.
Players can earn multiples of thier MLS salary in Europe, and most will jump at the chance to make the move if it is ever offered.
I have some sources that say (but I have not been able to verify it) Goodson turned down $175,000 from San Jose.
