OZZFest is Official for PHP
May 23rd, 2008 . 2:31 pm . By: Buzz CarrickOzzie and Metallica are coming to town… METALLICA AND OZZY OSBOURNE COME TO PIZZA HUT PARK FOR OZZFEST 2008Two of the most colossal names in rock n’ roll—Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne–are joining forces for a one-day stadium spectacular, OZZFest at Pizza Hut Park on Saturday, August 9. Metallica’s OZZFest debut represents one of the few shows the band will be playing in North America this year. Ozzy Osbourne himself will be making his only U.S. concert appearance through the end of 2008 at the wildly popular event which bears his name, marking the transformation of the pioneering festival he founded into a one-day extravaganza spanning three stages of top metal and hard rock acts. The OZZFest 2008 bill will also feature some of the hardest rocking bands–many of whom have been a part of the OZZFest family and who will return to the OZZFest stage in support of a festival which has opened the door for so many of today’s hard rock and metal bands. The full main stage lineup will spotlight performances by Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Hellyeah, Jonathan Davis (Korn), Cavalera Conspiracy, Shadows Fall, Apocalyptica and In This Moment. Also scheduled on the main stage is a special all-star tribute to fallen Pantera guitarist and Texas native “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. Second stage acts include Sevendust, Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft and Goatwhore. The third Texas stage–”an homage to the many great metal bands that come from Texas,” says Sharon Osbourne–will feature The Sword, Drowning Pool and Rigor Mortis. This year’s dynamic line-up encompasses artists who’ve played OZZFest before in different incarnations such as Tankian and Davis, Robert Trujillo (Ozzy and now with Metallica), Hellyeah’s Vinnie Paul (Pantera) and Chad Gray (Mudvayne); Kingdom of Sorrow’s Jamie Jasta (Hatebreed) and Kirk Windstein (Down); and Max Cavalera (Soulfly, Sepultura) of Cavalara Conspiracy. Other OZZFest graduates include Shadows Fall, Sevendust, Devildriver, Drowning Pool and In This Moment. More than 13 years after Ozzy Osbourne started OZZFest, it remains the defining blueprint for hard rock tours and festivals that have come along since. OZZFest is now evolving into a bigger and better stadium destination festival with headliners Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne leading the way. FC Dallas season ticket holders will have a special presale opportunity to purchase tickets on Friday, May 30 from 10 am to 10 pm CT. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, May 31 at any Ticketmaster outlet or through www.tickermaster.com. Ticket prices are $129.50 and $79.50 plus service fees. Gates for OZZFest will open at 9 am. Parking and stadium information can be found at www.pizzahutpark.com. This is how PHP makes money, and therefore sadly (to us soccer fans) where Hitch spends a lot of his time.
Goatwhore? Really?
I am so frustrated by this week, and now this. The confirmation at last that it was a concert. To relieve my frustration a bit, I sent the following email. He’s probably too busy right now to read or respond to it, but I don’t really care.

Thank you very much.
You moved an important SOCCER match for an Ozzie Osbourne Concert.
Dear Mr. Hitchcock, I am sooooooooooooooooo angry and upset with you at this point, after the events of this week, that I cannot express it adequately in words. And to have it finally confirmed that you moved one of the most important matches of FC Dallas’ season — from a WEEKEND to a WEEKDAY night — because of a heavy metal concert just adds to my feelings. This is inexcusable. I’ll quote you from a previous email that you sent to me: “The decision to move this game is a business decision and has nothing to do with showing a lack of respect for our/your team or our fans and season ticket holders.” Yes, it might have been a “business decision,” but you cannot possibly look your true soccer fan base in the face and say that soccer comes first at Pizza Hut Park.
I will end with this: I support this team, through thick or thin, through winning times and through rough times, such as what they are experiencing right now. I do NOT and will not support management that makes decisions that do not put soccer first or truly support the team (i.e. after this week, take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself if this week’s actions were justified or not, at this point in the season).
Sincerely,
P.S. it is through actions such as this — and NOT because of the team’s poor run of form — that has me seriously reconsidering my season tickets.
It was official a couple of weeks ago.

actually it wasn’t because all the artists weren’t confirmed until this week and the OZFEST people sent out the official announcement on Friday.
At least that’s what the FCD PR people said on Friday.
