So Diego thinks FCD should hire Hugo Sanchez. I fear he would consider FCD so beneath him that he would make Denilson looked dedicated by comparison.
I know it’s Diego’s opinion and not Hitch’s, but if it goes down, it would be another desperate move for a short term attendance bump rather than developing a good team, which would grow the long term attendance.
I know we’ve beaten Morrow’s dismissal to death, but it was really disturbing to me that Hitchcock was worried not about Morrow’s overall performance, but about his performance only at home, or in hyped games. How about we try to get better in general, maybe try to win a championship in the next three years, rather than move up one spot in the table and add 500 fans this year.
Chris…..well said!
Chris,
everybody has a price. I’m sure Hugo would consider the job at the right price.
I also think that while the Hugo circus would be interesting and amusing. It isn’t a good fit for where the club is right now.
If this club were just a head coach shy of competing for a title this year, I would welcome Hugo with open arms. We would watch him win a title or two, play in the CONCACAF Champions league, and move on to his dream job of coaching Real Madrid.
We all know that isn’t the reality of this club. The direction was set when Morrow was put in charge. Rebuild with youth. Maybe in two or three years FCD would be ready for a coach like Hugo Sanchez.
While we are looking at Mexico for candidates, I would be much more interested in seeing a guy like Pekerman come here. A proven developer of young talent. I’m sure his personal problems can be “fixed” with the right amount of money. (In case you had not heard, Pekerman stepped down as Toluca’s coach citing personal reasons)
MLS just fined Serioux $1000 for an infraction that happened 2 weeks ago. Way to protect your money maker, MLS. Someone must have threatened something for this to have come so late.
Chamo,
If Hitch was okay with taking the time to rebuild FCD with youth, possiby a 2 to 3 year project, why would he fire Morrow after one lousy result? The message seems clear: win now, not later. In addition when firing Morrow, Hitch cited that FCD was heading in the “wrong direction.” It sounds as if the FO want to take FCD in a new direction.
Teddy,
no doubt that the direction seems to have changed course. But “want to” win now and being in position to win now are two different things.
We will know for sure if the direction has really changed when the firesale of gen adidas players and us baby nats starts taking place.
as long as we’re not in the direction of morrow or hitch i’m pretty happy.
