FCD News Recap
May 29th, 2008 . 7:20 am . By: Chamo JonesI don’t know which was worst. Watch FC Dallas give up the late goal or watch the Houston fans make the Pizza Hut Park their home for the night. All of the supporters groups (and the rest of the Dallas fans too) need to reflect on what it means to be out-supported by the visitors in their own house. One comment I can’t resist. Saragosa when you push the defender in front of you make sure you score the goal. The ref will not call it in that case as we later saw when Ching did it to Moor.

I wasn’t able to watch the game, and i was sick to my stomach just watching the highlights. Robinson got a red card too right? i am still confused by what exactly happened i will have to read some more. What did Rocha do?
Cooper’s goal looked pretty sexy.
I couldn’t agree more about the fans but what do you expect? The Houston fans were impressive but you’re never going to have that at PHP because it’s in friggin suburbia – it costs $5 just to drive there and it’s 40 miles from the actual city. I think Houston’s fan element has a lot to do with where they’re located, while not a soccer specific stadium it’s at least accessible to their fans in the city of Houston.
Before this year I had been to a few FCD games and decided to get some season tickets this year – I would have to agree that the place is super nice, but the atmosphere overall is terrible. I’m convinced it’s where the thing is located. Real soccer fans are what you saw supporting Dynamo last night not the soccer moms bringing their hordes of kids to the game and if you want to stand up and support the team you have security guards surrounding you telling you to keep it down.
There’s nothing that can really be done to change it but it’s stuff like this that will continue to keep FCD and MLS/soccer in general a fringe sport in this country and especially this city. I’ll continue to support the team as I think there’s some genuine young talent and quality there that’s interesting to watch but I don’t see the atmosphere getting any better. It’s all about Location- Location – Location
