. Fellow scribe Steve Davis had much to say about the firing of FC Dallas head coach Steve Morrow on Tuesday. Davis excoriated General Manager Michael Hitchcock for his handling of the situation, noting that Morrow revamped the core of team with younger players and suggesting the ax fell too soon. From this point of view, the team’s performances in recent weeks merited the move. While Hitchcock has not excelled in the FCD front office (examples of malfeasance include the Denilson signing and continually poor attendance), he was smart enough to recognize there’s a chance FCD may be the best team in a dreadfully mediocre Western Conference this season. Too often, teams are too stagnant with coaching changes and let the rot set in before making a change. Morrow had enough time to get his players in place and accumulated enough talent to win, but questionable personnel and tactical decisions meant the former Arsenal defender had to go before Sammy Lee disease set in and this turned into yet another lost season in Frisco.

7. I suspect the large target strikers in the German Regionalliga don’t move as quickly as Kenny Cooper. Hence why Ian Joy was so hopelessly late with a pair of challenges on Cooper and saw red before the end of the first half on Saturday night. Perhaps Nat Borchers didn’t see any lanky and quick strikers in Norway either based on Dominic Oduro’s second-half influence.
