Spencer Not Interested

May 24th, 2008 . 4:19 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

Tobias’ article was linked in Chamo’s news recap, but I wanted to post on it in terms of keepkng track of coaching candidates and because John Spencer specifically says he would not be interested.  Of even more interest is why he says he’s not interested.

“Me and Steven Morrow go back a long, long way. We were teammates at Queens Park Rangers in London,” Spencer said. “I consider him a friend and it’s something that would go against my personality for him getting fired for me to interview for the job, so it’s not a job I’d be looking to take up, for sure.”

Tobias also says Paul Mariner of the Revs declined to answer questions about it, which doens’t tell us much.

Morrow didn’t have any problem taking over for his old QPR buddy Clarke when CC walked the plank, why should Spencer?

I think Morrow taking Clarke’s place was different. Clarke was fired at the end of the season after getting a crack at it. Hitch has basically told us that Morrow got fired for one bad game. Every single coach in MLS knows it was an unfair dismissal, hence some reluctane to be a party to it.
