Big Crowd… Big Letdown
May 20th, 2008 . 10:12 am . By: Chamo JonesIt was interesting to read Welpton’s and Swift’s research on this topic because when I took a look at the numbers they showed that the feeling floating around the air before and after the game on Sunday was very accurate, indeed. The big home games, defined as attendance over 17k, since Morrow took over.
Morrow and his team won the first one, and has not won one since scoring on average 1.67 goals while conceding 3. One win, one draw, four losses makes it feel like this team always loses when a big crowd is at the Park. Interestingly enough is the the record of Morrow’s predecessor. Collin Clarke record is completely opposite when it came to the big game home crowds.
Clarke’s problem was winning the “big” home games in the playoffs. Losing twice to Colorado as the series favorite. While Morrow lost the Open Cup Final at PHP last year, and also lost the series to Houston after taking the home leg by the minimum (which was the only big game that FC Dallas has ever won at home since Morrow took over reigns at FCD). 2 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Reading Buzz’s previous blog, the team was undefeated in front of 20k crowds at the Cotton Bowl. And according to your numbers, the early days at PHP were also successful in front of big crowds. It’s only recently that the team has failed to win in front of big crowds. As a franchise, FCD/Burn have done very well in front of big crowds, historically.
Historian,
it definitely shows that historically speaking the franchise has done well in front big crowds, but recently not so much. Unfortunately, the “recently” has been going on for 2 yrs now.
