I am concerned with the Line-up predictions. I would love to see Avila get some time, but not at RWB. I have only seen one reserve game and while he was strong offensively, I was very underwhelmed with his defensive effort and tackling ability. In all the reports that I have seen on him since, people have talked about his dribbling and passing. I have seen anything to suggest that he has improved on the other side. I fear seeing him get put in a position to fail in front of a packed house could ruin his confidence and slow his growth. I say let him play AM and leave Toja on the left and Rocha on the right. Yes, I do want to see the Toja of last season harassing Becks all game. I certainly don't trust Alvarez to do it. Alvarez tends to fade in and out of games and that will be deadly against Beckham.

Here's another blog/source to understand better the latest inside the team:

For those non-Spanish readers, I'd recommend to use one of those free online translators available.

Cholo, FCD isn't trying to convince you of anything about the Alvial firing, they continue to say "no comment." I am the one who speculated that perhaps the scouting didn't go as they hoped. I don't work for FCD and I certainly don't speak for FCD. So don't put words into FCD's mouth on this one as they said nothing like that at all.

I find it "interesting" that with Morrow's conservative, defensive approach to games that FCD has the 3rd most shots against in the league. What is not so suprising is that the team is second bottom in shots attempted. Three goals in 3 home games says it all about the safety first mentality.

Does FCD really expect anyone to believe that Jorge Avial was fired because he hasn't brought anyone in the less than six months he has been here? Morrow has never brought anyone in on his own as head coach or an assistant coach. He has gotten a lot of free trips to England around Christmas time for "scouting" purposes. Scouting the figgy pudding, more like it.

Avila played out wide right a couple of times int he preseason, but when I talked to him about it he wasn't comfortable there at all. Maybe his confidence int he position has grown since then.

I hope that Morrow eventually uses AA out wide, but I don't thinkt his will be the game to do it because it will allow Beckham too much space. I wouldn't be surprised to see Toja out there just from a harrassment factor.

Knowing full well it's a bit, the idea that you're picking up any "I'm a genius" tone from Morrow makes me wonder if he's watching the same FCD team I am. Getting beat at home then looking sloppy and lethargic at best isn't genius, it's below ordinary.

And again, I know you're doing a bit, but I think your bit generally conveys SM's attitude and outlook. I hope I'm wrong on that question, and you were just being clever.

Nice report as always, thanks, Buzz. I'm hopeful that Sunday will be the day when the FCD talent finally starts to come together, fire on all cylinders, and dominate the west.

I was very interested to see your mention of Jamie Watson. Running a search on your site, I see mentions of him back to last fall, trying to earn a spot on the developmental roster. The reason his name jumps out at me now, is because he's also playing with Austin's brand-new USL PDL team, the Aztex U23s.

In fact, hopefully he'll play tonight, and help beat the DFW Tornados, to help the Aztex U23s qualify for the U.S. Open Cup. If he does stay on with the Aztex organization, sounds like he'd be more suited to the USL-1 team that will be fielded starting next year. Or maybe hoping to get hooked into something with England's Stoke City (part owned by Aztex owner Phil Rawlins, and just promoted to the EPL).
