Needham Signs with Alta
April 8th, 2008 . 4:52 pm . By: Buzz CarrickLocal product Jay Needham has signed with recently promoted Alta IF in the Norwegian 1st Division (read second level), that’s the same division as Clarence Goodson’s new club IK Start. Needham was USL-1 rookie of the Year in 2007 with Colin Clarke’s Puerto Rico Islanders. Needham had his work permit approved and was eligible to play with Alta this lest weekend. The recently married Needham also had a trial with LA Galaxy this winter, but the Gals opted with Greg Vanney. And before anyone asks why I am blogging about this, it’s because I think highly of Needham’s game and have always felt he was MLS caliber player. 3 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

Needham got no minutes last week for one of the weaker sides in the Adecco but he did make the bench. Good luck to him as he seeks a high level league and a much better lifestyle in Norway. BTW, Alta is above the Artic Circle which is a big change from hot Dallas.
yes Buzz, anyone that reads this site knows of your “man crush” on Needham!
Buzz - Thanks for the info, I like keeping up with local products - you never know when they might come home to Texas
Ric - What do you mean by “a much better lifestyle in Norway”? You mean a different place within Norway, better than the relative darkness of Alta? Or, that Norway offers a better lifestyle than Needham’s native Texas, USA?
