Good Luck Houston
April 17th, 2008 . By: Buzz CarrickApparently things are not all rosy with the stadium situation in Houston. The Houston Chronicle’s Bernardo Fallas knows much more about it than I ever will so read his blog for greater understanding. The Dallasite in me wants to laugh at Houston and tell them to go fly a kite off a short pier. But let’s face it, Houston is good for the MLS and good for Dallas. I hope they can solve the problem and get a stadium down town. If not, then perhaps the suburbs. Houston is the #10 DMA market in the US, that’s to large to not have in the league (you can see why Philly and a return to San Fran where high on the MLS list, and why Atlanta should be). By being in Houston, AEG has been able bring another new ownership group in to the league, the Golden Boy himself, Oscar De La Hoya. Having the Dynamo to the south also gives FC Dallas the luxury of a “local” derby to play and a top class franchise to hate/chase. Nothing should be more motivating than a title winning team sharing your backyard fence. So I for one will miss Houston if they go the way of the Dodo, you just might not be able to tell from the laughter. 1 Comment(s) Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

It’s a tough thing, being a fan of an MLS team. There are so many times when I find myself rooting for things like the Galaxy not to totally suck and Houston to get a nice stadium ,because I know its the best thing for this fragile little league.
Then again, I’d be more likely to go to an FC Dallas Vs Dynamo road game if it were in San Antonio.
