Burse Loan?
March 26th, 2008 . By: Buzz CarrickWe’ll try to learn more tomorrow, but by now some of you may have seen that FC Dallas is considering loaning Ray Burse Jr to the Portland Timbers for the season. The Timbers transferred their keeper Josh Wicks to the LA Galaxy and are without an experienced keeper on their roster. If the move goes through, and Burse has reportedly traveled to Portland to check out the situation, then I would consider it a good move by FC Dallas. Dario Sala has won the starting job here, but Ray Burse still has tremendous potential. Being still very inexperienced at goalkeeping, the one area Ray needs more than any other is experience to help improve his game-reading and decision-making. Playing time, and lots of it, are the keys to Ray’s progression to fulfill his massive potential. USL-1 is a better level of play week to week, with more games than FCD reserves would be. Josh Lambo has shown enough to be the bench keeper in Dallas and reserve starter with Dario Sala getting the bulk of the first team action. This move would allow all three FCD keepers to be starting games every week. Stay tuned to see how this one develops. 5 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

would this open up a spot for andre rocha?
Sounds great as long as there is an airtight way to bring him back if Sala gets hurt. Would he be allowed to play against FCD in USOC?
ability to recall and playing in USOC are usually determined on a case by case basis. We’d have to wait and see what kind of deal FCD does.
If Burse plays in any USOC game for Portland he would not be able to play in USOC for FCD in the same year.
I’m from Portland. Wicks going to LA was a heavy loss so close to the beginning of the season. However, the defense had a tremendous impact on Wicks’ success last year. I’m looking forward to seeing Burse play in person. He’ll get great support from the Timbers Army. Is there a particular song that you sing for Burse after he makes a great save?
Anyone else you wanna lend us?
Thanks for the great work, Buzz.
