Arturo Out of U23 Squad

March 9th, 2008 . By: Peter Welpton

Soccer By Ives is reporting that the FC Dallas midfielder has shockingly (my word, not his) been dropped from the US Men’s U23 Olympic qualifying squad.

It appears that Coach Nowak needs five strikers on the team. There were a couple of other surprising subtractions in Benny Feilhaber and Robbie Rogers were sent home. No doubt this will stir up supporters and make the games this week even more watchable.

Someone is going to have to explain how Arturo was beaten out by Eddie Gavin. What does this mean about AA’s form, or does it mean that Peter Nowak is a nutbag?

Nowak sees AA for what he truly is - pure left foot, no defense and no pass player.
