Doudou Toure (Andrew Kandel, 3rd Degree)

FC Dallas has made a developmental roster offer to young forward Doudou Toure after previously filing a discovery on the player.  Out of the Atlanta Fire United youth club for whom he recently played in the Nike Friendlies, Toure has been training with Dallas for the last month.

FCD coach Steve Morrow says the club has offered the young Liberian a contract and the player has indicated he will sign with the club.  “We’re offering DouDou a developmental contract and after thinking over that situation he has indicated he would be delighted to accept that.”

Morrow says the homeschooled Toure is a player the team discovered and the MLS rules allow for the team to file on players like that.  “He’s a player we discovered.  Obviously he didn’t go to college and the league wasn’t aware of him for Generation adidas.  He’s one we’ve known about for a couple years and managed to keep quiet I guess.”

Toure will be accompanying the team to Brazil.

Awesome! Although I’m confused about the whole not going to college bit… isn’t he only 16 or 17 and still in high school? Or did he finish high school early while being home schooled?

From all accounts, sounds like he’s going to be a force. Can’t wait to see him in action.

I can see the opposing fans’ signs now: “Doudou is crap”

nice! always good to see youth developement actually taking place and succeeding in its efforts.

im looking forward to the Ibee, Brek, Toure, Wallace, 1st XI in a couple years.

im excited about the kids. its kinda what the rest of the world does. of couse, they can afford to spend on a starting XI that would make our head spin but developing talent at a young age is the key to long term success.

    good goin Dallas.

Is an international player? If so then when he, Mina and Reinaldo sign there will need to be serious movent to create international spots for them. Could Saragosa and Ricchetti be in trouble along with maybe Oduro or even Ricardinho? Maybe Dallas can trade an international for an international slot. Wouldn’t that be odd?

great pickup for the developmental roster. he’ll be growing up w/ the GA guys to develop chemistry until they’re all called up to the full squad. great way to develop chemistry for the long haul. we definitely have a bright future.

DouDou went to Wheeler H.S. last year younger brother is a jr. there. So his brother is probably 16 also. H.S. is in Marietta GA. He was listed as a Sr. last year.

Methinks Doudou Toure is second on the names list just behind Yaya Toure. Its awesome hearing the La Liga announcers calling out Yaya in the middle of the Spanish commentary. Doudou is in front of Kolo, tho, in the names rankings.

buzz, You havent mentioned anything about SM confirming that Pitch will be on the Full Roster this season. That leaves an American player out, right? Who is it gonna be, Dello, Yi, Wags?

homeschooled?? No he went to Wheeler with me, I’m still a sophomore, guy is a beast, he graduated last year. Very good for his age. I knew he would make it.

TT, the stuff about Pitch is in the practice report. No American had to be cut for him, there is room now.

PEdro, Morrow is the one who told me he was home schooled. I supposr he could have been wrong.

What!!!! I played against this kid in high school and club, and I have no idea how this is possible. He is an incredible athlete, but I dont see this working out.

I played with him at Stars and against him at the high school level when he played for Wheeler. He is an extraordinary player, unlike any I have ever played with or against. Best friend when he is on your team, worst nightmare when he is your opponents. Like a one man team.

Doudou played in a league with my son several years in metro Atlanta. You could not meet a nicer young man.

First things first. He’s from Mauritania. He was born on Dec. 29, 1991 (still 16). He’s playing in Monterrey, Mexico at Rayados since April 2008 (the youngest of the team). He’s on vacation right now and should be back the following days to practice for next season 2009, which starts on January 2009. He’s being considered by the coach LaVolpe to play for the first team. I’ve been very close to him because I’ve bee teaching him spanish. The press, the teamates and the fans in Monterrey are also very impressed with the way he plays.
