Beer Drinkers Rejoice!

February 27th, 2008 . 3:20 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

FCD has a new partnership and it’s with Lochrann’s Irish Pub & Eatery across the street from the stadium.  Post-game fun, road game viewing parties, and the all important in-stadium Beer Garden on the PHP stage are all part of the package.

Nice looking place there, and the beer garden should be a terrific addition to the gameday atmosphere.

FC DALLAS FORMS PARTNERSHIP WITH LOCHRANN’S IRISH PUB

FC Dallas General Manager Michael Hitchcock today announced that the team has formed a partnership with Lochrann’s Irish Pub & Eatery in Frisco. The partnership will include post-game parties and away game viewing parties at the pub, and will also feature Lochrann’s on the Stage, an in-stadium beer garden for all FCD home games, located on the Pizza Hut Park stage.

“We’re very happy to announce our partnership with Lochrann’s Irish Pub,” said Hitchcock. “It’s exciting that our fans will have the opportunity to enjoy post-game parties and watch all away games together at Lochrann’s, as well as join us at Pizza Hut Park at Lochrann’s on the Stage, which promises to be a great beer garden. We couldn’t ask for a better pub partner who just happens to be a neighbor.”

Beginning with FCD’s season opener on March 30, Lochrann’s on the Stage will feature a bar serving a selection of Irish beers and mixed drinks, and will be open to all ticket holders. Lochrann’s will also host the official FCD post-game party following each home game, in addition to being the official FCD away-game viewing party location.

“We’re excited to partner with FC Dallas and hopefully this will last many years,” said Deina McNabb, co-owner of Lochrann’s. “I think every pub would love to be in the backyard of a professional soccer stadium, which is why working with FC Dallas is a dream come-true. We’re looking forward to the start of the season when we can start celebrating with the fans, both at Lochrann’s and inside Pizza Hut Park.”

Additionally, Lochrann’s will host a season kickoff party during the week leading up to the team’s season opener versus Chivas USA on Sunday, March 30 at Pizza Hut Park (2 p.m. CT). Details of the kickoff party will be posted on www.fcdallas.com soon.

Lochrann’s is located at 6195 Main Street in Frisco, directly across the street from Pizza Hut Park’s south gate entrance.

Have you seen their prices? More like beer drinkers empty your pockets!

the beer garden will probably be priced differently. if not, its pretty far from my seat anyway…

Nice! I wish FCD would set up — or at the least, help coordinate — viewing parties in other cities. It gets lonely down here in Austin when we can’t make the roadtrip.

A good decision, and a better use of the dead space that is the stage most games.

    This is a great decision.

can they sponsor our jerseys also? it’d be similar to that of liverpool and carlsberg. FCD will be synonymous w/ lochran’s.

Good move regardless of price (you buncha whiners). Nice to cover some of the concrete jungle that is the north end of PHP. Doubt I’ll go much, but sure would be cool to see a missed shot knock a beer out of someone’s hand.

Well, Carlsberg is an actual brewing company, and a large one at that. Lochrann’s is just a single pub, and I doubt the owners have enough disposable income to be able to afford to sponsor an MLS team. Plus, it wouldn’t do much good for them, since their once branch is in Frisco.

It’s not like there aren’t lots of potential sponsors out there, though. If you’re talking about national brands, the Dallas area is home to 7-Eleven, Southwest Airlines, Frito Lay, and Dr. Pepper, to name a few. I’m surprised Pizza Hut hasn’t offered to sponsor the team – I mean, they sponsored Fulham in 2001-02 (see link), so it’s not like they’d be breaking new ground.

Now everyone will be driving home drunk from the bar after the game since nobody lives close to PHP.

….versus driving home drunk from the stadium like we used to….

This is a cool deal – hopefully this will be something that starts laying the groundwork for creating more of an international atmosphere to the games – I don’t mean that it’s an irish pub (we have Bennigan’s already – that’s a real irish pub, right?) – but the fact that there’s a cool pub and restaurants right outside the stadium. Could be a fun place to hang before and after games. Plus, the scenery inside the place ain’t too shabby either.

…if by scenery you mean the workers uniforms?!?

Look Who says we have to go there… I have two bars that have told me FC Dallas will be on TV… My fav is Bleachers with good Prices… if we can get a large group (50-100) i bet we can get $5 pitchers and who knows what else…

This is great!! Can’t wait to sit in the beer garden to watch the game. Its premium beer so the prices are a bit higher, but the beer is a heck of a lot better than a Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors Light, or any other watered down beer.
