All the speculation and heresay on the supposed "promise" is jsut that and internet folly and it also doesn't matter AT ALL.

Pablo has a contract, like it or not he has a contract that the signed, played under last season, etc. FCD nor MLS is not in a position to renegotiate contracts if they do not have to. If you are in your last year of the contract I think they would certainly do so, so as not to lose a valuable member of the squad. If there are multiple years left on the deal, and a player wants more $$, I'd always tell them "we'll discuss during your last year" and renegotiate then.

I don't know about Pablo's contract, years, $$, years left, but if he's not in his last year he is obligated to play under the current deal, and with the way world soccer/football is set up, he can't just quit and go to another MLS team or even ANY other team sanctioned by FIFA.

Lastly, typically FO and team staff (i.e. coaching staff) do not air dirty laundry or discuss such matters in public, so you only get 1/2 the story and it is biased.

Morrow is not far removed from his playing days, knows the position the players are in, etc. I have never seen or heard ANYTHING from Morrow to indicate he is anything less than a stand-up guy and a "players coach".

Because he worked for FCD for some time prior to leaving for SMU and probably knows a bit about this subject.

No, I completely agree with you, Skeeter. I actually had gone off looking for reasons why Pablo should get paid when I found out that he's been on some crap teams. :-)

I have to issue a yellow card on the Stevetoro argument about how poor Pablo's other teams have faired. Would you say that Robert Horry is an all time NBA great or was the "linchpin" of any of the championship teams he was on with LA, Houston, or San Antonio? No, he was a role player who just happened to be on some great teams, just like Pablo is a role player who just happens to have played for some lousy teams.

Alright, your name is in the book. Play on, but keep it clean.

He was probably promised a raise if he did well and the teams performance probably wasn't mentioned. Probably expected another 40/50 k or so not DP type money. Chances are the word is out in the locker room and "get it in writing" the mantra of the moment. Of course FCD probably won't put it in writing so then its up to the player to decide what to do next. Personally, were it me and I had done well, I'd work hard, play well while playing out my option then tell them to stick it as far up their lying asses as it would go. Assuming that the lying baskets were still with the club, which, given what appears to be going on might well be one hell of an assumption.

Ricchetti fun fact: when playing for Real Valladolid, his teams finished 16th, 12th, 13th, 18th, and 6th. He then jumped to Ternana, which finished 20th (and was relegated to Serie C), and then played for Quilmes, which finished 20th in Clausura 2007(and was relegated).

I like him and what he does for the shape of the team, but he's not yet shown that he's the linchpin for a successful squad.
