AA will be tried at forward at points this spring.

Cooper is obviously number 1, then AA and Abe are both ranked ahead of Ricardinho and Oduro right now. So, the top three forwards did not play.

In my opinion, the fact that Oduro and Ricardinho started the game together is very telling – it tells me that they are the ones battling for a roster spot. But that is just my opinion.

Jason, you said that FCD was without our top forwards and that was the reason they werent dangerous even with the “three-touch” game they were playing.

my question is Ricky, Dom, & Mina were playing, so other than Cooper, where are our top forwards? AA is a midfielder.

what about trying ricardinho at attacking-mid. if avila can be considered there w/ his slightness of size, i’m sure it could work for lil ricky as well.

since it’s only the 1st official full-squad game, you would expect some difficulty. most are probably hesitant due to their new position and teammates they haven’t played along side.

from the report, is it just me or does adrian seem a little pissed due to being played on the backline instead of MF?

Lax, I wouldn’t say we sucked. We certainly controlled possession and kept Memphis’s chances to a minimum. Also, keep in mind that FCD was trying to play “three touch” during the first half, so the players did not attempt to take the defenders on the dribble very often. Tht said, the number of chances on goal would have to be considered disappointing, even without our top strikers.

I would venture to guess that Oduro will be tried at right mid at some point in camp. But not sure if he plays enough defense to stick.

Oman – keep using that term? Huh? I haven’t ever used it beofre and thought it was a bit clever .

Wallace and Wagner are good talents, but neither were particularly sharp on Saturday. They may be going through an adjustment period. Remember, the developmental squad/reserves don’t get to practice with the full team all the time. It is a new adjustment when you are practicing with the older guys. Especially with Wagner playing a new position. I am not down at all on the guys long term. Hopefully they pik it up a bit as camp moves on.

The attack from the wings will come through the outside midfield. There is not enough defense in the game of an Oduro/Ricardinho/Alvarez to fit in at those positiojns. Because Dallas is moving away from a three forward line that incorporates wingers, Those guys are going to have to make the team by excelling at either the forward or attacking midfield positions.

For what its worth, I think Toja fits in at the left mid spot better than attacking midfield, so that central position is up for grabs…
