i actually like wally at left back, also. although that’s probably not the position where he is most comfortable, but w/ his length, speed and athleticism, he’d be a solid add. i also lilke gustavo out there b/c of his pace and experience, but we have too many int’ls.

INteresting thought on Serioux. He has played center back, but not sure about the outside, especially on the left.

I do think that because both the left mid and the central players are asked to play two way, it almost forces AA to play at forward.

I would say that someone outside the roster will be playing left center bak on opening day.

dont know if Serioux is a left back or a man-to-man marker, but i like that lineup cuz it gets the best 11 on the field. I thinks Wallace will end up on the left instead of Wagsmbut thats neither here nor there cuz they both have the same experience. My lineup is here:

Wow, great stuff. Buzz, do you feel like Wally Pipp? (everybody scramble to wikipedia to unlock that analogy).

With the depth in midfield, I kept wanting to move Alvarez to forward in the depth charts I keep. Jason finally gives me some validation to do so.

What I have now:
Moor-Davino-Serioux
Rocha-Ricchetti
McCarty-Toja-Wagner
Alvarez-Cooper

A discovery is like a claim. It’s like saying “we got dibs on this player” A MLS team can have 6 discoveries filed at a time. Most teams carry 4 or 5 in place and leave themselves one or two for a quick move if they like someone.

MLS will contact a player a discovery is filed on. But it doesn’t mean he will sign. Sometimes discoveries are field on odd people. Player who very little chance of ending up in MLS.

The purpose of the developmental roster is to get young talent on the professional roster and make him part of the team. So it makes all the sense in the world to file the discovery on the kid.

Filing the discovery doesn’t mean you are actively trying to sign the guy, you are just covering your bases from a rights perspective in case you decide you want to.

The benefit for both him and FCD is that you bring him into a professional environment where he can compete and develop. The development rate will me multiple times faster than some kid on a high school or local club team. Look at Wagner, who was brought in at 17 and is now in the running for a starting spot at 20. He would never have made the progression over the last few years on some club or high school squad.

FCD would only sign a 16 year onld if they were an exceptional talent. And from what I have seen, this kid fits the bill perfectly.

no a discovery just means we get first right to sign him when he wants to go pro
