Gbandi Gsurfaces on Gtrial

January 21st, 2008 . 5:45 pm . By: Buzz Carrick

We’ve mentioned before that Chris Gbandi was going to be allowed to leave this winter and Blake Wagner would be getting the first chance to start at left back.  Gbandi has surfaced on trial with FK Haugesund of the Norwegian Second Division.

Gbandi went on trial last year with IK Start, the team Clarence Goodson signed with, but wasn’t signed.

Sad for the fans of dallas but great for Chris who’s hopefully moving on to much bigger things like Goodson. That should eliminate our best best and third best defenders this offseason. The train wreck comtinues.

Sad for the fans of Dallas? I believe I speak for many when I say I was ready not not have his numerous lapses in judgment hampering this team.

I really don’t see this as a move to better things either. I can’t say I know much about the Norwegian leagues, but I can’t imagine the 2nd division is a big stepping stone to the big time.

being the #1 pick overall, i guess he didn’t fulfill his true promise. maybe a fresh start will do him good since i know a fresh start here w/ blake wagner will do us good.

Everybody complianed about the back line last year-but we have to MNT players and Gbandi heading to Europe. Seems like the back line wasn’t so bad after all?

This is a poor situation to apply the “look, he’s heading to Europe, he must be good” outlook to. He’s going to play in a 2nd division! Maybe if it was the C-C Championship, but otherwise, not all that impressive to me.

You’ve got to be kidding. ‘He’s going to Europe so he must be a star’? Did you not watch any games?

Chris was a disaster last year and wasn’t very good the previous year either. He was constantly out of position…made bad decisions when trying to get back in position…and was at a loss doing anything offensive.

IMO, he was a bust as a first pick. We should have taken Twellman. How the fortunes of this franchise could have changed if we had.

Chris cost the team with his poor judgement (red card) and with attitude that he always wanted out of here. He won,t be missed.

I don’t know what the source is that stated he failed his physical last year w/ IK start but i can most definitely say he did not. He would have been gone in a flash but FCD and MLS did not/would not accept IK Starts bid.

Last post is correct. I was given bad info, I rechecked with some sources and Gbandi did not fail a physical.
