FC Dallas has confirmed the promotion of Damon Boettcher from Director of Finance and Administration to the newly created role of Executive Vice President of Operations, but indirectly have denied Hitchcock has been removed from player personnel duties.  3rd Degree sources remain firm that Hunt Sports Group is actively looking to fill the role of technical director with FCD.

In the press release confirming the Boettcher hire, FCD conflicts our reports Hitch has already given up his role in the player/personnel process.

While Boettcher will report directly to Hitchcock, the third-year General Manager will continue to oversee team administrations and player personnel, the FC Dallas Foundation, and the ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship, communications, broadcasting, soccer business development, and community relations departments.

Our sources familiar with the changes taking place at FCD indicate this move is just the first step in the reorganization process.  HSG is actively looking to find a technical director and if they find the right person will be creating a position to overseas soccer operations inside the club.  If such a person comes into the club, our sources say, Hitchcock will continue to run the programs he currently overseas, but won’t be involved in the team operations.  In effect FCD will be implementing a three head system under President John Wagner.

Boettcher in his new role will take on supervision of the operational side of both FC Dallas and Pizza Hut Park, which includes Pizza Hut Park and the field complex, facility maintenance, finance and administration, human resources, concerts, team store, and stadium operations.

Stay tuned as further developments occur.

Really, this all sounds like a good thing, if it works out and FCD can find an appropriate person for the technical director position.

while we’re on the subject of player personel decisions, i have this thought i would like to share. i’ve heard rumors that schelotto may not want to rejoin columbus, maybe even leave MLS all together. i’ve heard he’s not pleased w/ the talent level of the crew. since HSG owns both crew and FCD, what’s the possibility of swinging a ruiz-schelotto trade? schelotto would be on a more talented club, and may be willing to remain in MLS. works out for both teams since the crew coach is familiar w/ ruiz.

what do you think? feasible or am i smokin’ too much?

I imagine Schelotto just wants more money. That’s how these things work. I’d take him for Ruiz, but that’s not my first choice. He’s not mobile enough for Dallas IMO.

Typical HSG confusion. All this contributes to Dallas’ inability to win any championship.

    Such negative vibes…

If this is the plan, then get the right person. I’d rather they work through a process than hire some has been in order to make a bunch of bloggers happy.

another rumor is that IF Miami gets a team that Boca Juniors USA(assuming they get the team since they said they had interest in bringing a team to MLS) would want to take Schelotto from the Crew.

If Miami gets a team how old will Schletto be by that time? Maybe they will want him to be their coach.

buzz, I always wondered why Crew and FCD havent traded more with each other given the ownership relationship. Also Crew and KC when HSG owned them.

    Any reasons why not?

for the most part they give each club GM a free hand. I will give them credit for not colluding. But when it comes to a organizational method, like a tech dir, if they feel it’s a better way to go they will copy it in both markets.

HSG doesn’t give a damn about the quality of product in Columbus or Dallas. The only thing on their mind is whether or not they can book Nickelback to play their concert venues, aka. soccer specific stadiums.
