Núñez Waived
November 28th, 2007 . 6:13 pm . By: Buzz CarrickOur old friend Ramon Núñez has been waived by Chivas USA and will be available in Thursday’s waiver draft. Núñez was one of ten players waived by Chivas USA and one of 35 players league wide. It’s possible that the reason for the waiver of Núñez was his contract, with a base of $100,000. If Núñez were to clear waivers (a team claiming a player has to pick up the current contract), he would revert to a Chivas property and they would be free to re-negotiate with him. 8 Comments Comments RSS TrackBack Identifier URI Leave a comment |

I could see SJ picking him up, they have plenty of cash (ask goodson).
buzz, the rumor is that Landon is headed to SJ and Ruiz to LA, what do you hear?
I doubt SJ would take him, not a Yallop kind of guy.
Yes I hear that exact same rumor on Ruiz and Donovan. But I also know that KC has interest in Ruiz. I believe there are others as well.
How probable, do you think, it is that Ruiz will be leaving? And I’m curious . . . how do you think that’ll effect the team’s offensive capabilities? Some people over on BS seem to think that the team is doomed if he leaves (especially if Alvarez might go, also).
Just wondering.
Do you see Dallas picking up anyone or just passing the only names that intrest me are Pavon and Arvizu, what do you think? I know that salary might be the difference.
Davis, I am fairly certain FCD will pass in the waiver draft. I don’t think any of those players help them much. There are a few of them I like a little, but I doubt Morrow does.
Hutch, I think it’s 95% Ruiz is gone. If he is gone someone will come in his place. 7 goals is just not good enough for the money he makes. Time to cut bait.
Thanks for the info!
I have very mixed feelings about Ruiz. I don’t like his theatrics on the field, but when we started this year as FCD fans, we remembered three players from the past season — Kenny, Ronnie O’Brien, and Carlos. Carlos was my daughter’s favorite player (it’s Kenny now, after getting to meet him at camps and at practices), and she will be sad to see him go. But, like you said . . . 7 goals doesn’t justify the money he’s making. And it’s not like he didn’t have chances. There were enough times that his strikes went high or wide that (had they been on target), he could have had quite a few more goals this year.
P.S. Make that 4 players that we were familiar with — Dario was and is one of my favorite players. I don’t remember the game last season, but there was one where he got kicked in the head/ear and was bleeding. They wrapped his head, and then he put on a cap, which sort of covered the bandage — and kept playing. That’s when he became my favorite last year!
