Dallas Cup Adds Liverpool to SuperGroup

The list of clubs for 08 is looking pretty good. Adidas Brings Famed English Soccer Club, Liverpool FC To Compete In Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXIX(DALLAS, Texas) November 7, 2007 – Multi-sport owner Tom Hicks’ newly acquired British soccer club, Liverpool FC, will make the journey to Dallas in March to compete in Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXIX. Liverpool Football Club, winners of the 2006 and 2007 FA Youth Cup, are rumored to be sending their Reserve Squad, primarily consisting of 17, 18, 19 year old boys awaiting their opportunity to play for the First Team at Anfield. “The Reds”, as they are nicknamed throughout Europe, are a premier team sponsored by adidas. They will be attending their first Dallas Cup And will be joined by Sao Paulo FC of Brazil, Tigres of Mexico, Eintracht Frankfurt of Germany and Leicester City of England, a few of the Super Group U19 division teams, to compete for the famed “gold boot and ball” trophy of Dallas Cup. “As part of our strategic partnership with The Dallas Cup, we are committed to bringing top International talent to the tournament. Peter Crouch and Harry Kewell, both of whom played here at Dallas Cup in their youth, are now key players in Liverpool’s first squad. Peter Crouch, who played in Dallas Cup XX, age 19, at the time played for Tottenham Hotspur of England. Harry Kewell, with Leeds United of England, at 18, appeared in American Airlines Dallas Cup XVII. I’ll be very curious to see who we send. I doubt our best Reserves players (Lucas, Sebastian Leto, Nabil El Zhar, Jack Hobbs, etc) will make the trip. A lot of players that are normally Reserves are out on-loan (Adam Hammill, Paul Anderson, Godwin Antwi, Lee Peltier, etc) are not available. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Hey Buzz any word on a partnership overseas yet? I think at the start of the season Hitch was talking about trying to get one this year. Any progress on that?
