Ruiz for Guatemala

RUIZ TO LEAD GUATEMALA AGAINST MEXICO ON OCTOBER 17FRISCO, Texas (Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007) – FC Dallas captain Carlos Ruiz has been named to the Guatemala National Team for its friendly versus Mexico, which will be played on Oct. 17 at the Los Angeles Coliseum (10 pm CT, live on Telemundo). The 28-year-old forward is currently tied with Juan Carlos Plata as the all-time leading goal scorer for Guatemala, with 35 goals scored in 74 career games. Ruiz will join his national team in Los Angeles on Monday, Oct. 15 and return to Dallas on Thursday, Oct. 18. Ruiz has scored 11 goals in all competitions for FC Dallas in 2007, including seven regular season goals, two goals in SuperLiga, and two goals in the U.S. Open Cup. Since joining MLS in 2002, Ruiz has scored 108 goals in all official club competitions: 81 regular season goals (139 games), 15 playoff goals (15 games), nine U.S. Open Cup goals (14 games), and three goals in six international club matches (Champions Cup and SuperLiga). This year, Ruiz has made six appearances for the Guatemala National team, including a friendly versus the United States in March, four games in the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and a friendly versus Panama in August. if they can get the first win against mexico(although unlikely but i hope) i will cry! to see the chapines finally beat them.(i am a chapine)
i can’t believe i didn’t watch the whole game and that they won and yes i did cry it’s a great day for Guatemala soccer. although it was a very heated game.
