Buzz, thanks for posting. What a butt ugly game, in many ways.
I REALLY hope that guy is suspended for a looooong while. I’ve seen the replay over and over and over and I can’t figure out what Ruiz did to deserve that.
Nice that Clark picked “Christian Rock Concert Night” to showcase his thuggery – what a great example (nice touch of flipping off the fans on his way out too).
Well the fans were throwing water bottles at him…
I was watching my tape and replaying it in slow motion. The ONLY thing that I see and don’t understand is why does Clark goes down before Ruiz jumps . . . It’s not on the UTube clip. Something happened, but I could not tell what, and when it happens, it seems like Carlos is watching the ball, not Clark. It is obvious that Clark is mad about something . . . but it’s impossible to see anythng other that typical “mish mash” stuff of players all jumping for a ball . . .
What a horrible ending to a horrible game.
Is that Drew that is also in that play? Theone that grabs Clark afterwards? Ihave watched that damned thing about 15 times and it looks like Clark just stops right when Ruiz is starting his leap to get his head on it. maybe catches Clark in the back of the head with the elbow. I just cannot tell.
all in all though, it does really looklike ruiz is watching the ball the entire time and, even if he did connect with Clark, I don’t think he meant to do it. But, Carlos is the only that really knows.
Wes, that would be ‘fan’, singular. One guy from 103 in a green and white striped shirt who ran down the steps, threw two bottles and ran off again. No-one else threw anything except (deserved) abuse.
Due to distance and graininess I can’t see anything of what Carlos allegedly did to Clark, but in the closeups it does look to me like Clark caught him in the chest just inside his arm, not the shoulder as some people are claiming. Broken ribs, flail segments and punctured lungs are no laughing matter – Clark should be banned for the rest of the season.
How we doin’ Buzz? I have a small request. Can you or one of the many contributors to 3rd Degree post the final verdict by the MLS committee regarding the “Clark” incident, so that all of us can post our reaction(s) towards that verdict. Thnx if possible.
BOFA,
Looks like #11 on the FCD jersey, so I think that would be Clarence who grabbed Clark. I am anxiously awaiting the announcement of the suspension. Not for the sake of seeing “justice” brought to Clark, but for measuring stick against Sala’s 6 games for the punch? Surely Clark’s act warrants at least that, right? Please do the right thing, MLS.
Alejo, of course.
KK,
Don’t hold your breath. MLS knows nothing about precedence. Don’t be surprised if Clark gets nothing more than the usual 1 game suspension that comes with a red.
Not too long before the incident, there was another altercation between the two where I believe Clark says to Ruiz, “Just play, man. Just play.” He was obviously frustrated at the forward long before he attacked him.
Since you guys were asking and I had a clean DVD copy of it, it was Goodson who pulled Clark down after the kick.
The third camera angle telefutura showed had a pretty clear shot of the run-up to Clark going down, and I am about 90% sure Ruiz didn’t do anything.
They had already tangled as some said, and Clark’s yellow card came on a foul on Ruiz just a few minutes before.
