Big game today…
The Dynamo come into Sunday’s match recovering nicely from a lull in form a couple of weeks ago. They have won two straight and are undefeated in five – a streak that started with their last game against FC Dallas. Injuries and a busy schedule from SuperLiga had taken their toll at the halfway point, but the schedule settled down, players have recovered, and Houston are set to battle Chivas USA for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Did you know FCD once won the US Open Cup?
It’s crunch time of the season where the games are more about current form as you move into the playoffs than any actual position. The hated Houston Dynamo come to town this weekend for another Texas Derby. Unfortunately it’s unlikely FCD will face anyone else but Houston in the first round of the playoffs. So this could be a sneak peak if you will.
Nothing about the Texas showdown in the mass media…
So the annual late summer early fall FC Dallas meltdown is officially in full effect. FCD has now lost four of the last six, with one win a against Toronto who hasn’t scored yet in franchise history and a tie against Chicago at home. Let’s face it, if this team can’t beat one of the worst LA teams in their franchise history, that’s missing 18,000 starters to injury, there is little chance of advancing against Houston (the odds on favorite for FCD to face in the opening round) in the playoffs.
Dax McCarty gave the Hoops an early lead by finishing a cross from Chris Gbandi in the 11th minute. Just twelve minutes later, Chris Gbandi was heading for the showers after being sent off for a second yellow. The resulting penalty kick saw Landon Donovan tie the game, and Dallas began 65+ minutes of man-down soccer. The Hoops held off LA until the 72nd minute, when Chris Klein buried a shot to the right upper 90 from outside the penalty box to give the Galaxy their fifth win of the season.
