FC Dallas’ Carlos Ruiz will command the Guatemalan side this Thursday against the United States in one of the first round’s most highly anticipated battles.

The Gold Cup will also give the Hoops forward the opportunity to make history by becoming his country’s all-time scorer. With 34 in his personal tally, Ruiz trails the legendary Juan Carlos Plata by one goal.

Guatemala will also have other familiar faces, such as Guillermo Ramirez, formerly of the Los Angeles Galaxy, ex-Columbus Crew player Mario Rodríguez and Gustavo Cabrera, who once called Real Salt Lake home.

I love this guys bit. A few weeks ago he ranked MLS teams based on Cartoon characters. Now he does it based on Movies. My only criticism is that he doesn’t seem to have been to the movies in the last 20 years. Ranking the MLS: Movie style – Orlando Sentinel – Brant Parsons.

Chamo… While it may seem like the guy in Orlando hasn’t been to the movies in the last 20 yrs, check the article again. He states right up front that he longs for 80s high school flicks, and specifically that John Hughes films are the subject of this week’s rankings theme. Cheers…

Marco4, you are correct sir. I was thrown off the track when he said FCD = Beethoven. If we are talking 80’s high school flix, FCD is “Say Anything” because they will be the next bigh thing.
