Game day.
Game day.
The Atlanta Silverbacks, FCD’s US Open Cup opposition, are on FSC today.
Well that didn’t come as much of a surprise. To be honest, I thought it would be 3-0 loss to Argentina and aside from Eddie Johnson’s penalty goal which came as much from his hesitating to take the shot as anything else, I came pretty close.
The last time Houston and Dallas faced off, Houston were teetering on the brink of irrelevance. They had lost three straight matches, were already without De Rosario, and were about to lose Ching, Clark, and Onstead for the Gold Cup. The 2-5-1 start looked like it would only get worse, and the MLS Cup trophy they won the previous season seemed like a distant memory. Improbably, the comeback win over FC Dallas vaulted the team on a 5 game winning streak. Houston are now only 3 points behind the Hoops with two games in hand, and look like the surging side that won the title last year.

Wet grass slows the ball down through so play is super crisp and fast. That makes it fun to watch. Unfortunately there was no drill on team tactics so the back four remains a mystery. I also got to see Adrian Serioux train full speed though and that’s a real important step.
Update your calendars accordingly.
