According to a representative of Ronnie O’Brien’s management company First Wave Sports, the FC Dallas MVP will not be moving to New York or anywhere else. “O’Brien will stay in Dallas at this stage,” said agent Pat McCabe when reached by email. “It doesn’t look likely that there will be any trade.”

O’Brien was missing for last weekend’s FCD game against Real Salt Lake for “personal reasons,” according to the team. Sources in Dallas familiar with the situation have indicated that O’Brien was dropped as punishment for something that occurred earlier in the week, possibly stemming from the previous week’s season opener. As we reported on 3rd Degree, two sources indicated that FC Dallas was back in serious discussion with Red Bull New York about a possible swap of Ronnie O’Brien for Amado Guevara.

Despite the claim by O’Brien’s people he is going nowhere, the situation remains muddy and we may still see further repercussions down the line.
